Company OverviewAcumem is a provider of intelligent software which analyzes and helps optimizing the computing performance in single- and multi-core environments. Acumem contributes to their customers' success in maximizing the benefits of multi-core technology, achieving the full potential of their systems. Acumem has partnerships with leading companies in the multi-core market such as Sun Microsystems, HP and Microsoft. Acumem is a privately held company based in Uppsala, Sweden with sales office in Boston, USA. Solutions for Multi-coreWe live in a world of services based on calculation intense computer application. Be it weather reports, animated movies, aero dynamic simulation or the use of ABS systems in your car to make your travel safer. These applications demand more and more computing power which is solved by introducing more processors and processors with many cores (multi-core processors). The problem is that unless programs are optimized for the new architecture performance could in a worst case scenario be worse than with an old single core system. This optimization is highly complex and current tools are not able to give programmers the support or results needed, at least not until now. Acumem patented technology allows programmers of multi-core or multi-threaded systems to fully utilize the performance of their system in a very simple and user friendly way. Architectural FocusThe move to multicore offers a steep increase in compute power, while little is done to improve the performance of the memory system. Typically, current applications make poor use of the memory system and few developers have the insight to fix such problems. Furthermore, the introduction of shared memory system resources makes the picture even more complicated. One way to address this problem is to rewrite an application to avoid these bottlenecks. This, however, requires powerful and insightful performance tools. Acumem provides such tools. Unique Approach - Answering the WHAT, WHERE, and HOWAcumem's unique and patented technology has its origin in "world class" ranked research at Uppsala University. It unobtrusively gathers a representative but sparse fingerprint of the monitored application's behavior, and uses statistical methods to point to SlowSpots in the code. Unlike traditional profilers that gathers a lot of data but offer little analysis, Acumem SlowSpotter will identify many classes of SlowSpots and for each one, its estimated efficiency gain is presented together with all the necessary information and links needed to fix the issue:
