Acumem secures additional funding for new innovative technology Uppsala, 14 December 2009: Acumem, a provider of intelligent software for single- and multi-core environments, today announced that it has secured additional funding. This funding enables Acumem to continue to focus on accelerating its ongoing development of its cutting edge energy efficiency technology.
Acumems optimization technology has shown great potential to automatically improve efficiency in data centers and servers by dynamically allocate threads and memory to applications and cores. Thanks to Acumems fast and rich data collection and analysis, optimization can be made on the fly and take mixed workloads and the specification of the system into consideration. The potential for increasing energy efficiency is high and our pre study has shown that it is possible to get 5-15% higher efficiency by using automatic optimization based on our technology says Mats Nilsson, VP Engineering at Acumem. Acumem has been awarded a major research grant from Vinnova (The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems). The research grant, which covers 2009 and 2010 aims at the new energy efficiency product line currently being developed. This project is also supported by Energimyndigheten and current shareholders. This new funding provides a good foundation for Acumem to develop new innovative technology alongside our currently available tools for programmers, Acumem SlowSpotter and ThreadSpotter says Mats Hovmöller, CEO at Acumem Acumems technology enables owners of systems and applications to get the best performance from their system or application in both single- and multi-core environments. Acumem ThreadSpotter has proven to increase throughput in many applications by a factor of five or more, improving general scalability, saving processor cycles and decreasing power consumption. About Acumem Acumem is a provider of intelligent software which analyzes and optimizes application software performance in single- and multi-core environments. Acumem contributes to their customers success in maximizing the benefits of multi-core technology, achieving the full potential of their systems. Acumem works closely with leading companies in the multi-core market such as HP, Sun, Microsoft, Intel, IBM and AMD. Acumem is a privately held company based in Uppsala, Sweden. For more information, visit www.acumem.com Acumems technology enables owners of systems and applications to get the best performance from their system or application in both single- and multi-core environments. The target users of the tools are programmers, both optimization experts and non-expert, whereas the customers and people benefitting from the results are also found among System owners, Development Managers, Performance Evaluators, Benchmarks teams, etc.. Through the identification of SlowSpots, Acumems tools help programmers to go directly to the parts of the code where improvement potential exists without any need to go through thousands of lines of code and vast amounts of data. Acumem SlowSpotter has proven to increase throughput in many applications by a factor of five, improving general scalability, saving processor cycles and decreasing power consumption. Acumem ThreadSpotter mainly targets programmers with expert knowledge in performance optimization and gives more options in the data capture part, allows for an unlimited number of threads to be analyzed and also advises on more complex code changes than Acumem SlowSpotter. Just as Acumem SlowSpotter, TheadSpotter gives hands-on advice based on analysis of cache and bandwidth related performance problems for single- and multi-core systems.
